Church Life

May at St Peter's

It is really challenging to be in such a season of global fear and uncertainty, however, it is also a privilege to be able to share the security we have in Jesus Christ with those around us. It is at times like these that we can really bless others by expressing the confidence we have in Him.

As Christians we are called to be salt and light to the world, in times of global challenge we must unify to offer the salt of the Gospel and the light of Jesus to those around us, matched not just with words but with  the actions of compassion and healing. It was a pleasure today to spend some time with one a member of our church who is responsible for putting the NHS flu action plan into place. Her confidence and her determination to do the very best for her patience, regardless of the potential cost to herself, was a real reminder of the power of God at work in us.

Life has always been full of uncertainty, and history reveals that turbulence is never far away. I guess that the only difference our generation faces is that with the media, we can worry about things in a long way in advance.

It can be hard to have peace of mind with so much anxiety provoking information in the air. However the Bible offers us some really peace restoring promises: In John 14: 27 Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

During this period of anxiety it is my hope that as a church we would be a sanctuary of security for the anxious and a place that speaks powerfully of the eternal hope that we have in Jesus.

Jesus peace be with you,

Blessings

Will
